I am a researcher, designer, yoga teacher, and end of life doula experiencing all the beauty, joy, sorrow and messiness of life
a bit about me
I enjoy exploring, discovering, learning, and connecting with other beautifully complex people. I have a PhD in Information Studies (Human Computer Interaction) from Drexel University, College of Computing & Informatics. Over the past 20 years I have worked on a variety of design and research projects in industry and academia. I have learned from collaborating with inspiring teams on a range of projects, from multi-million dollar projects at large corporations to small budget projects for micro businesses. I have designed and taught undergraduate courses in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Human Computer Interaction, and Ethics in Computing, and learned a great deal from students. I have enjoyed teaching yoga, encouraging people to reconnect with their breath and body. I have helped people design legacy projects, complete advanced care directives, and create end of life playlists. No matter what the project is, for me, one thing remains the same, focus on people first.
I am currently working as a consultant, empowering small health & wellness businesses. I own a small business, teaching individual and small group yoga classes. I serve as an end of life doula, providing compassion, support and service to those nearing the end of life and their loved ones.

end of life care - just as we plan for other events in life, I believe we have an opportunity to openly express our wishes for end of life care.
consciousness and perception - the most interesting topics in the world, in my humble opinion.
strength training, cycling, hiking - I enjoy movement and all the benefits that come from movement.
Although no two project are the same in scope, budget, domain, and resources, each of my projects includes a focus on people (first!), communication, collaboration, iteration, research, design and evaluation. The approach, processes, methods, and tools vary based on all of those factors. My collaboration and communication styles have been greatly influenced by the work of Marshall Rosenberg, in non-violent communication, and Carl Rogers, in unconditional positive regard. When people are heard and understood, then something meaningful can be created.
